East Bank Ambassador
Roxie Batiste has been a community activist on the East Bank of St. James Parish for many years. As a native and resident of Lutcher, she is well known for the support she provides to our community.
Roxie has been employed with the St. James Parish Sheriff's Office for 26 years where she currently is a Sargent. Over the years, Roxie has become certified in sexual assault training and ministry for inmates through the Louisiana Department of Corrections. In addition, Roxie is the owner of Martin's Sweet Shop and Co-owner of Martin's Catering and Martin's Barber Shop.
Roxie's mission in life is to serve God and his children in all that she does. Roxie is an active member of the King Solomon Baptist Church in Lutcher. She is committed to many ministries at KSBC such as the Women's Ministry, Girls Talk, WOW Ministry, Vacation Bible School, and the Adult Praise Team. Recently, Roxie has obtained her certification as a Marriage Counselor and she is active in the Marriage Ministry at KSBC.
Roxie has served as the coordinator for the National Night Out Against Crime for a number of years in her neighborhood. Also, Roxie was instrumental in the development of the Lutcher A's Youth Baseball Team and the Lutcher Bobcats Youth Football Organization. Roxie has served as the President of the Krewe of Tomorrow and the Ladies of Distinction Social Club.
Roxie is a dedicated supporter of the East Jefferson General Hospital Cancer Foundation. Also, she is a promoter of fitness as she supports and instructs line dancing class through the "Steppin' Out and Shapin' Up" Line Dance Group. In her spare time, Roxie enjoys traveling, Black Friday shopping, and helping other in her community. Also, Roxie loves to support her Southern Jaguars and New Orleans Saints. Roxie has been married to the love of her life, Alderman Donald Batiste Jr., for 35 years.
The one thing that Roxie believes in is helping people. She lives by the motto of - "If I can help someone along my way, then my living will not be in vain".
